On April 23, a working discussion was held on the initiative of the RA NA deputies of My Step Faction Meri Galstyan and Nikolay Baghdasaryan which referred to the regulation of cutting down trees.

The Head of Nature Protection Department of Yerevan Municipality Gevorg Nazaryan and the representative of the Policy Department of Specially Protected Areas of Nature of the Ministry of Environment Aram Aghasyan took part in the debate.

The NA deputy Meri Galstyan has noted that it is necessary to apply restrictions on cutting down trees in green areas of private property and at the same time of public and general use. In particular, it is proposed to discuss the issue on getting agreement in advance for cutting down trees and plants growing on such lands. The deputy also highlighted the preservation of the right balance of public interest and private rights.

After in-depth study of the issue, as well as summing up the results of the discussions with Yerevan Municipality and the Ministry of Environment, the MPs will initiate legislative amendments.
